A Suprisingly Interesting City

The city to put on your Bucket List

A Suprisingly Interesting City

Have you ever visited somewhere, or even stopped at a place on your way to another, and thought that place was beautiful, lively or surprisingly interesting? I have with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I initially went for a concert but found the endless number of bridges not only scenic but refreshing. The city is actually known for its number of bridges, leading the world with a complete 446, with 3 more than Venice, Italy. As everyone else, I enjoy finding all the scenic spots when traveling and in Pittsburgh, it’s the entire city. Each bridge is composed of separate architecture making every one unique and more compelling. Between the rainy nights and the sunsets I am not sure which one makes them look more beautiful. The reflections you'll see of the sky and city on the water will take your breath away. There are even stairs, tunnels, benches and fountains underneath or around some of the bridges which makes it a great place to relax at night with friends and walk your dog during the day.

Not to mention the city life, Pittsburgh has it all. You have a section of clubs with a rapping vibe, you have your strip of classy bars and restaurants, the broken down graffiti covered buildings and the part with beautiful large homes with brick roads. One thing to remember when traveling through Pittsburgh is its consistent hills, walking through the city will make your calves ache if you are not prepared for a little cardio. However, this is the part that makes it the most alluring. Turning each corner with a surprise of new views.

Also, if you take the time to look there some neat buildings as well, including The Bridge of Sighs which connects the courthouse to the jail and some other historical buildings. They are all built with such character it’s almost as if you can feel the hard work that was put into them originally. There is also a great place called Market Square which is very lively throughout the day. It has many restaurants and stores surrounding a large open concrete area in the middle where there are many different things going on each day. They have performers of all kinds, food and even work out classes at times. It’s a place you have to stop by while you’re there!

So if you’re the type that likes to explore a new city or the type that looks for admirable landscapes this is the place for you. Something to add to your bucket list or even just make a pit stop on the way to another place.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
