The time has finally come - summer is coming to an end and it's time to get ready to go back to college. You've been counting down the days and the anticipation is nearly killing you. All you want is to be back on campus with all your friends, but here is what you can expect when you make your return:

Moving everything back into your cramped living space

No matter how much you try to only bring the essentials, you know you're going to bring too much. It's impossible to fit everything into your room, let alone your car.

Reuniting with all of your friends

You've been waiting months to see your college friends again, unless you'd been blessed enough to have visits. You just can't wait to get the gang back together to do everything from napping to partying.

Trying to make more friends

Even though you have a solid group of friends, every year, it seems like a great idea to expand your horizons and meet new people to interact with.

Having to deal with more icebreakers in class

It's time to start preparing more fun facts about yourself or "two truths and a lie."

Living on a tight budget again

Now that you're away from home, it's a lot harder to ask for $20 here - and - there from your parents. Get ready to figure out the difference between things you need and things you want.

Watching your hard-earned money being spent on overpriced books

It's ridiculous to spend an extra $100 or so to buy the new edition of a textbook that is probably only different from the older editions by a few different words and pictures, yet you know your professor will require it.

No longer eating homemade food

Say hello to ramen, pizza, and take-out again! You're on your own again and dinner won't be ready for you every night anymore.

Returning to the party scene

You can't wait to party the night away in a random, sweaty basement filled with strangers.

Instagramming all of your nights out

Obviously, you need the best pictures to uphold your self-proclaimed title of social media king/queen and to let all of your followers know that you're back in action at college.

Caring about your appearance again

Whether your school is in the city or in the middle of nowhere, you can't just throw on a bathing suit and go to the beach or the pool. You may not care too much about what you wear to class, but when going out, you definitely want to dress to impress.

Ignoring your first week's work load to party

It's still summer in your mind and there's no way you can even think about schoolwork. You just got back and all you want to do is spend time with your friends and relax.

Dusting off the cobwebs in your brain

Unless you had a rigorous summer job, you most likely weren't preparing for tests and writing essays. It's time to rejuvenate your mind.

Recovering from syllabus week

You spent every day partying but now it's time to pull yourself back together and bring yourself back to life.

Attempting to get all of your procrastinated work finished

Now that syllabus week is over, you realize that the readings and papers assigned are real and must be completed, despite your valiant efforts to ignore all possible work.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
