Between Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2, it’s obvious how supportive the creator is about college Greek life. The activities in the scenes and direct quotes, the pitches align perfectly when summing up the Greek community.

  1. Initiation: At the beginning of the first movie, once the groups have been formed, they are required to go through an initiation process before they are officially members of each group. Initiation is huge in Greek life… you remember the day you were initiated for the rest of your life. It’s highly upheld in your organization because it is what makes your sisterhood truly special.
  2. Mixers: In both the first and second movie we find the Bellas attending parties with the other acapella groups. In Greek life, we would refer to mixers as swaps or date parties. What sorority girl doesn’t love a good swap theme? Am I right?
  3. Matching Outfits: Where in Pitch Perfect they wore matching outfits to perform, in Greek life we wear matching t-shirts when it comes to things that we may work or events that our chapter throws. In "Pitch Perfect" each girl is required to wear an ascot which would pretty much be a badge to any Greek student.
  4. Recruitment: In the very end of the first movie we see an audition process happening to place each new person wanting to join an organization, also known as a PNM in the Greek community (potential new member.) Now during Rush, the PNMs definitely don’t stand on a stage and sing for us but they definitely go through was seems like an audition process.
  5. Punishment: When the Bellas mess up nationally in the beginning of the second movie the school punishes them for their behavior. When a chapter in the Greek community messes up, the action definitely does not go unnoticed; the school handles the situation and consequences are given.
  6. Life Long Memories: In a sorority, you definitely aren’t performing or competing like they are in Pitch Perfect, but overall you are doing life with them. When you graduate from college, you won’t remember all the classes you took or all the dates you went one, but you will remember your sisters. "When I look back on this, I won't remember performing and competing. I'm going to remember you weirdos." - Becca Mitchell
  7. Retreats: In the second movie the girls go on a retreat to “find their sound.” In Greek life, you take sisterhood events with your chapter and/or go on retreats with your pledge class to grow closer as sisters.
  8. The House: In Pitch Perfect 2 the girls have a house on campus that they live in, hangout in, and do everything in. They are required to pay fees and meet requirements in order to stay in good standings with their organization. If that doesn’t scream sorority what does? "You are one of us, you paid the registration fee." - Fat Amy

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
