People Should Stop Demonizing Pits

Why I Think Pit-Bulls Make Great Pets

I’ve had the love for dogs since I was a very young girl. Growing up my parents had dogs in the house. We owned Pit bulls, Bulldogs and loud barking Chihuahuas. As I was growing up I found to have an enormous heart of love towards pit bulls.

I’ve had Pit bulls here and there most of my life. I remember not too long ago that I had to give up my dog and I cried for months. I still cry.

When certain type of people, mostly Pit bull haters, find out I love pits to death there is always negative remarks towards the type of dog I love.

I don’t understand why Pit bulls have been so demonized like some type of death drug. I’ve heard comments like "pit bulls should all be killed." And hearing that just breaks my heart. I always defend the breed.

There are three types we hear most about and they are the Staffordshire bull terrier, American Pit Bull, and Staffordshire terrier. I know there are more but these three are the most known and common here in the United States.

Pit Bulls were not originally from America they came from Europe were they were breaded for safety and others had them as fighting dogs (really cruel). When European Immigrants came to America they of course brought their Pit bulls because they were part of the family. When they were brought over to America the families started to breed the breed began to be loved as a family pet. Pit bull’s are very loving, strong, very athletic, and loyal to you as an owner. A Pit bull will treat others the way he or she is treated. Unfortunately, there are ugly people everywhere who abuse their doggy.

I am not afraid of Pit bulls. I am a dog lover, but I do have a bias. I do not like Dalmatians or Chihuahuas. I was attacked by a stupid Dalmatian when I was younger, those dogs are temperamental. All I did was walk by looking for a ball that my cousins and I were playing with and my dad almost killed that dog. Now, the Chihuahua attacked my baby sister and bit her face. It was our dog and he attacked my baby sister and my dad almost killed that dog too but ever since then I can’t stand Chihuahuas. So Pit bulls are not the one to be demonized because there are other breeds that can attack for no reason, and kill for no reason. I don’t have my own pits yet but I have some in my life. And I love to see them as much as I can. There is Bella who belongs to my cousin Henna and there is Chapo who belongs to my landlord. Pit bulls rock, and I cannot wait to own my own home so I could buy me at least four Pit bulls. I will love them and give them a beautiful home.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
