James 4:13-15 talks about how we should not list or demand our plans in order to know everything.
We should say, "If the Lord wills."
In life, sometimes we get one piece of the plan and we go full force trying to plan everything else; correcting our life pieces, ridding relationships, making rash decisions and planning our life away. We often forget the one who holds our future. Most of the time we go to God telling him the plan, for him to work all things out the way we expect or have planned in our head. He is for us and not against us. His intentions are better than anything we can imagine or dream of. He holds all insight, wisdom and knowledge. We must stop demanding all of the pieces of the puzzle and know he is working all things out for our good, he is at our right hand, and we are to glorify him in each step. We are not to plan the rest of the puzzle nor demand it. Our timing is not his timing. Our thoughts are not his thoughts.
Sometimes in a middle of a trial I will catch myself praying for God to take me out of the trial, heal the brokenness that is occurring before my eyes, and please SOLVE or magically fix my trial! Instead, we should be putting our focus on the Lord and glorifying him in all steps of life- desiring to grow deeper with him and focusing our eyes on him during the trial. He is the truth and the way; he leads us on a narrow path. The path may feel long but he is at our right hand, guiding us and loving on us each step of the way. Sitting, respecting and embracing the Lord’s will is something you need to grasp early on in life. I see many people of all ages and genders struggling because they are not resting, respecting, sitting in and embracing the Lord’s will for their life.
You did not create yourself. You did not get to select what parents you had, where you were born and what experiences you encountered as a child. You were made for a purpose, created thoughtfully and diligently by our God. Once you become an adult you do not suddenly gain control of your life, destiny, experiences and trials. Living in the Lord’s will is something you can pray about and live out by having an authentic relationship with the Lord. I know many great people who are so kind, humble, and encouraging- they have experienced the worst trials. I know good people who have lost children, parents, and friends to cancer. Family members murdered, broken homes, divorced parents and abusive relationships. You are not in control of your own life here on earth. You can dream, make goals, experience adventure, love life, but keep in mind there is a God who created you, has a plan for you, and who holds you accountable.
Stop telling God how to solve your trial.
Stop demanding to know the rest of the puzzle pieces.
Stop looking and expecting the trial to move, instead look and expect God to move.
Trust the Lords will, know that he is at your hand and has intentions that are unconceivable.
