Bring a little nostalgia to your mind. Think about a time, not a happiest time or an amazing time. Think about a time in which you wish you could savor forever.
Our lives are molded by these moments. We're forced to move past these times and search for others. We seek fulfillment of the moment. A perfect moment can feel just like any other trivial time, but hindsight is 20/20.
Sometimes, you wonder if the happiest times in your life have passed. You wonder if things will get better. All you can do, though, is appreciate the beauty of what has come and gone and move on to seek better, more extravagant, infinitely more meaningful things and experiences.
Still, though, you feel driven by these moments. We feel as if they are the very reason for our existence. If you could think of one memory and remember it more clearly than anything you've ever seen, touched, felt, you would most likely pick a moment that is more telling about you than you could ever know.
You see, we all follow a pretty regular path in our lives. We live to breath, change our friends' lives, better the world for the future, and we die, most of the time an unremarkable death.
Uniqueness blooms into existence within us at those very moments, the memorable ones. The moments that are most clear to us, in hindsight, are the most telling. They might not be active, they might seem insignificant, but there's a reason we remember. It isn't as if our minds were somehow stronger in that moment, and we somehow have clarity in our memorization.
Something happened. Better yet, you might have realized something. You might have realized, in that perfect, serene moment, that you were actually moving onto better things in life. Now this isn't to say that life was definitely going to get better at that time, but you knew what was to come and you were content with that.
I believe that the moments that are most clear in their recollection are times of sureness, of awe, due to the contentment we felt with life. Fear, hurt, insecurity all are a part of any life, no doubt. However, the acceptance of any of these emotions proves only that there is some sort of stagnation that is accepted as well.
In this moment, your life changed. It might not have been huge. It might have only been the start of something big. Nevertheless, it made you who you are in some way, shape, or form.
These are the moments that drive us through life.
We seek the spectacular. We crave for the amazing. Sometimes, we just have to realize that within the journey to the greatness, there are stepping stones of immense happiness and true and utter joy.
An image of the mind can define the entirety of a lifetime.
