Hey parents, do you have a picky teen? Do they seem to not enjoy those gifts at Christmas anymore? Well, if so, then, like me, you are sick of wasting money on things they won’t like or tripping over broken toys in the hallways.
So here is a list of things to consider when shopping this year.
Tech Accessories:
Teens get a little personal with their accessories and this includes accessories for their gadgets. Everything from phone cases to charger cords have become personalized. Check out these stores/service providers for some nifty gifts. Verizon and Boost Mobile always have some neat cases and charger cords. Also, check out the kiosks at your local mall. Additionally, I am quite sure Apple has some cool accessories for that teen that needs some shiny bling.
Gift Cards:
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Cheesy gift, right? Wrong. First, there is the easy out for you parents whose teens are super picky. Secondly, they get what they want. Last, most cards are reloadable these days so you can put money on them whenever you like. This comes in handy when your teen needs to buy a gift for someone else! Grab some gift cards at your local Wal-mart or General Dollar store. They always have a great selection.
Clothes:
Just like with their tech accessories, most if not all teens are picky about what they wear. “Clothes make the person.” (I have no idea who said that.) When it comes to clothes, play it safe and check out their closet. That is always a safe bet. Additionally, stores like Kohl’s, Aéropostale, and American Eagle are some places to consider.
Social Gifts:
For that teen that has a bazillion friends or just a few, grab some tickets to the movies, a concert, or other social event that would peak their interest. Tickets to the theater might be right up their alley. Or good seats at a sporting event. A seasonal pass to an amusement park like King’s Island or Cedar Point would be an excellent choice in this area. Let them make memories as a gift from you.
Music:
Again, something personal like clothing and tech accessories, however, tickets to go and see their favorite band more than likely would do the trick. A great online source for tickets to concerts is Ticketmaster. Also, some stores like Hastings has a wonderful selection of cd’s. You can also pick up a gift card for iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, etc. They would make great stocking stuffers.
Either way, have fun shopping for that hard to buy for teen and don’t let the stress of shopping ruin your holiday! Grab a cookie and hot cocoa and enjoy the day.
