If you're a picky eater like me, you've probably said "I don't like it," more than once without even trying the food. Picky eaters often tend to reject foods based on their appearance or what they are described as rather than what they actually taste like. Seems a little silly for food, right? For picky eaters, these are some foods you shouldn't knock until you try.
1. Sushi
Raw fish? Ew, right? Wrong. Though some types of sushi may not be appealing to everyone, that doesn't necessarily mean all sushi is bad. Often wrapped in seaweed with other ingredients such as rice or avocado, the raw fish taste many fear can often be disguised or even be eliminated. If you're a picky eater, perhaps a shrimp tempura roll or a spring special set could be a good starting point.
2. Onion Rings
Onions dipped in boiling oil? Doesn't sound very appealing either, does it? Though probably not the healthiest of choices, the unconventional dish makes for a fun snack food.
3. Jalapeños
A lot of people don't like spicy, and jalapeños are definitely just that. However, they can also make for a very tasty additional spice to a dish such as chip dip or chicken, anything really. Though not recommended for eating whole, ground into smaller pieces, jalapeños can add PLENTY of flavors.
4. Fish n Chips
Popular in Australia, the combination may sound a bit strange. However, this combination, consisting of fried fish and French fries serves for a very filling and very tasty meal. Though picky eaters may not be fish people, sprinkle some lime juice and you'll be in for an experience you won't forget.
5. Calamari
Warning. You should probably know calamari is a fancy name for fried mini squids. But trust me, it tastes better than chicken! Though the idea of tentacles may seem a little creepy at first, don't knock it! Calamari is a wonderful blend of both crunchy and chewy, and for extra spunk, squeeze some lemon or lime juice on it!
Sometimes the things we eat may sound weird or unappealing, unnatural to what many people are accustomed to. For this reason, people may become very selective as to what they consume. However, the world is full of many different resources, spices, and kinds of food. The only way to survive is by trying! You don't know unless you try. Cliché? Definitely. True? Of course.
