In this world, there can be many people who waltz into your life just to jumble everything up -- you know, knock over your plans and kick your boyfriend and decimate everything they come in contact with, including your happiness. These people are jerks. They pretend to be your friend, but bounce the second things get hairy, and never stick around to help clean up after a sick party. These people undoubtedly are the worst, but lucky for me, college has not contained these people.
My roommates rock. They're sweet, caring, and usually don't seem to mind when I steal a water bottle or snag a bite of their dinner. We Venmo constantly for groceries, and one just made me tea. But most of all, the best thing about college people is that you don't have to be friends with anyone you don't want to. That's right. You don't have to hang out any people that royally smell just because you're stuck in high school with them. College gives you the spine to say no, stay home, and avoid those poisons that want to just muck up your day and chill your coffee. It's a magical thing to pick your friends, and an even more magical thing to pick your happiness over dealing with prickly losers who only want to tear you down. New environments glean the best people, and the best self.
