Music has the amazing ability to change your mood no matter the situation. If you're anything like me, you'll understand when I say that I have to have music playing for everything. It's a necessity whether it's taking a shower, cooking, or just getting dressed each morning. So, here's a playlist to listen to throughout your day to keep you motivated and be productive, or at least try to be:

1. Keep On Keeping On - Colony House

This song is just a reminder to not give up, even when that's tough to do. We all need that little reassurance that we're not alone when we have bad days and that's just what this is. Favorite lyric: "And when hope has sailed away, Glory's made its grave"

2. Follow Your Arrow - Kacey Musgraves

Like most songs on this list, the message in these lyrics is to just keep being you because nobody else opinion matters. Favorite lyric: "Damned if you do and damned if you don't, so you might as well just do whatever you want"

3. Can't Complain - Relient K

We all get easily distracted by the negativity in our lives that we forget about the slightest bit of positivity. Relient K does a good job of putting that into an upbeat song that acknowledges life can be hard sometimes, but if everything was easy, what would we have to be happy about? Favorite lyric: " I know the cookie's gonna crumble, And I know that life is gonna suck some days"

4. Hell No - Ingrid Michaleson

Technically, this is a breakup song and those have a tendency to be sad. But in this scenario, Ingrid sings about the wonderful realization that you're better off without some people. Favorite lyric: " Will I be lonely when I wake? Did we make a big mistake? Hell no."

5. New Skin - Beach Weather

Just like the band's name, this song has such a beachy vibe to it. Even though it may not be summer, the four minutes you spend listening to this song will make you feel like it is. Favorite lyric: "I'm overdue for a lethal dose of confidence."

6. Could Have Been Me - The Struts

This is very easily one of my favorite songs that I've come across this year. Not only is it a very good, upbeat rock song sonically speaking, but it also has such a great message to do what you love while you can so you don't wake up one day hating your life and asking "What if?" Favorite lyric: "I wanna live better days, never look back and say 'Could've been me'"

7. Brand New - Ben Rector, 8. Note To Self - Ben Rector

Honestly, I love every single song Ben Rector has written so it's only fair I include two. "Brand New" has a lot of meaning to me (and my best friend) because it came into my life at an extremely difficult time and it just reminds me that after everything we have the chance to be new. Favorite lyric: "I feel like for the first time in a long time I am not afraid."

"Note To Self" is literally it's title. There's a piece of advice for everyone in the lyrics and even though it sounds bizarre, this song makes me want to live a better life. Favorite lyric: "Don't let yourself worry quite as much. It'll end up fine enough, it always has up until now."

9. UGH! - The 1975

Sonically, this song is quirky. There's no other way to describe it. Even though it doesn't have any significant meaning to me, it's a good "sing into your hairbrush, dance around your room" type song. Favorite lyric: "And you're the only thing that's going on in my mind, taking over my life a second time"

10. "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" - Whitney Houston

Musically, I love everything about the 80s and Whitney Houston. This is hands down one of my favorite pop songs because it was just crafted and produced so well. Favorite lyric: "The sun begins to fade, still enough time to figure out how to chase my blues away"

11. Drowning Butterflies - Bipolar Sunshine

A bit of an introspective song in my opinion, but it still has the ability to have a chill vibe. I think this would be a perfect song to drive home to on a Friday. Favorite lyric: "Leave me to rust, you're only dust, but I want you more"

12. Good Girls - Nick Jonas

I will always be a die-hard Jonas Brothers fan, but I have to say Nick Jonas has established quite a solo career. "Good Girls" is a fun, catchy song, but also has valid points. Favorite lyric: "Dancing up on tables, getting back at your dad"

13. Perfectly Lonely - John Mayer

"Battle Studies" as an album is incredible, but 'Perfectly Lonely' is the most cheerful on the tracklist. Most people view being single or alone, but this song basically celebrates being by yourself and being comfortable with that freedom. Favorite lyric: "I don't belong to anyone and no one belongs to me."

14. The Middle - Jimmy Eat World

I was three-years-old when this song was released and sadly, I've only come to love it within the last year. It's one of those songs that makes you wish it were longer so there was more of it to enjoy. Anyway, the take away message from this song is to just be yourself and not worry about other people think because at the end of the day, you have to be happy with who you are and not who other people want you to be. Favorite lyric: "Don't you worry what the bitter hearts are gonna say"

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
