Pick-me-up Playlist

If you're ever feeling down or you're going through a rough time, music can always help you pull through. Music is an outlet for so many people, myself included. As humans, there's something about music that can always fit your mood or improve it. When I am feeling low, I love to hear music that will pick me up, or describe how I'm feeling. Here are 10 of my favorite pick-me-up songs, that no matter what your style of music is, the lyrics or tempo is upbeat and can make you smile:

10.If We're Honest Francesca Battistelli

While this song may be written and performed by a Christian songwriter/singer and it has religious themes, no matter what your religious beliefs are, anyone can relate to this song. It is so peaceful and calms me. It's lyrics ring true to everyone.

9.Believe in Me Demi Lovato

This song is all about loving yourself and learning to overcome adversity. Anyone who has ever had self confidence issues or body image issues should definitely check this out.

8.Stand by you Rachel Platten

This song is so fun and upbeat and is so inspiring. It is all about overcoming and having people who will always stand by you.

7.Brave Sara Barellis

We have all sat back and let people walk all over us at times, and this song is all about not sitting in the dark any longer. It always makes me feel empowered.

6.I Believe Christina Perri

This song is all about self discovery and hope. Believing in yourself is so cliche and cheesy, but it is actually one of the most important things you can do, and this song makes you feel that.

5.Blackbird The Beatles

This is my favorite song of all time. The guitar is so peaceful and the lyrics are so true. The Beatles are obviously classic, and so is this song.

4.Fight Song Rachel Platten

Pretty much everyone has heard this song at some point in the past year, and even if you are sick and tired of hearing it, it will always have a great message. It is your typical pop song that will get stuck in your head, but it is truly super fun and inspiring.

3.The Storm Flying Colors

This is a favorite song that I share with my Dad. It's lyrics are truly beautiful and uplifting. The music is also incredible with a great guitar solo and music break in the middle.

2.I Lived One Republic

This song was written by One Republic as a tribute to a fan who suffers from cystic fibrosis, a life threatening illness. Most people who live with this do not make it past about 40 years old. This fan has not let this stop him from living an extraordinary life. This song inspires me to live life to the fullest and always be positive.

1.Skyscraper Demi Lovato

This song is my go-to song whenever I'm feeling down. Demi Lovato has been through a lot and is very open about her experiences, which leads to honest and meaningful music.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
