So last week I finally had my long awaited and much needed vacation from life, Denny's and New York. I was so excited to get out of the state for a bit and have a change of scenery as well as see my Grandma, Aunt, and DC babies.

While I spent a good portion of my time off relaxing, I also spent a good portion of it rebooting my body and getting my health in order. I ran, did sit-ups, as well as drink my trusty 310 nutrition shakes and Flat Tummy Tea to keep me on track, in addition to just eating better and paying attention to what I ate.

Now you may ask, if I'm on vacation why would I worry about eating right and exercising? I should be drinking champagne every night with strawberries on my tits sucking on a buttered lobster tail! And I did, but when else would I really have the time to focus on my body and health? However, there was another reason, that upcoming Sunday I would be having a photoshoot with iconic DC Native Photographer Cina! A truly talented photographer who knew my aesthetic very well! I was so excited when she said she had time to shoot me before her shoot with Cherry Glazer, like what a legend! Honestly, truly. So, naturally for the shoot I had to look and feel my best.

The Photoshoot went Amazing! She was focused and very easy to work with. I watched in awe as she effortlessly directed me and created art. I had a feeling the photos would be amazing but nothing compared to when I actually saw them. She had captured my essence perfectly! Even though I didn't have my signature green locks or some other funky color, I still felt and looked myself. It was amazing! I couldn't believe someone could capture my essence so perfectly. Cina's work with me had affirmed what I already knew to be true, and that is that she's got talent!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
