Life is too short just to dream...

I have always loved the beach. There is just something special about the smell of the salty water and the feel of it running over my feet, the wind in my face, and the gentle roar of the ocean waves crashing onto the beach. I snap the picture quickly before the warm water brushed against my feet. Chipped seashells lay beneath the water's surface, making soft noises as they run against each other. The wave turns to foam and rolls against the sand, only to return back from where it came. Looking back at this picture, I am reminded of how I am thankful to experience such a beautiful thing as the beach. After all, it is the beach, where life is different. Time does not move minute to minute or hour to hour, as it does in other places far away, but moment to moment. People are close to the currents and plan their days according to the tides, and spend much time in the light of the sun. Even when my feet cannot touch the sand and the salty ocean water, I realize that my life, and everyone's life, is like an ocean. Waves will try and knock you down and push you back to where you started, but once you learn to fight through them, the entire ocean can belong to you. That is definitely one of the best simile I have heard in a while. I found a quote from Isaac Newton that I find interesting. It also happens to fit the theme of this conversation. "To myself I am only a child playing on the beach, while vast oceans of truth lie undiscovered before me." Go discover something in your ocean that you never knew before. Life is too short to jut dream, so you must go and do.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
