Photography is more complex than one easy trick, but if you are running out of time and want to get a good photo here’s what you can do.
Find a window or natural light, this is perhaps the most reliable way of getting a good photo. Have to subject look into the light, that can be by a window or off a porch. Natural light will make your photo look good-- whether you use a smartphone or a DSLR camera.
Here is an example of a photo taken with the subject facing the natural light. The model was sitting at an open door look outside.
Another technique that is very helpful when taking photos of someone who is worried about his/her appearance is to take a photo from an elevated angle.
Here’s an example:
I was standing on something that put me slightly above the model. You don’t want to go to drastic withstanding above someone or it can look kind of funny.
