8 Days In La Jolla, California: A Vacation In Pictures

Because there were too many good pictures not to share.

8 Days In La Jolla, California: A Vacation In Pictures
My Images

On August 2nd, my boyfriend and I set out to La Jolla, CA for a week of vacation. This had been something we were looking forward to all summer — and it definitely lived up to our expectations, to say the least. We kept our days busy with adventures, beach time and some good eats. And as the week came to a close, neither one of us was quite ready to leave. Because it is socially unacceptable to fill my Instagram with an album of pictures in such a short time, I decided to save them all and instead create a photo story from our trip.

Day 1.

We arrived, did some exploring of the town, and watched the sunset…and ran into a couple adorable (but not-so-great-smelling) seals.

Day 2.

I dragged Elliot up early to go on a run with me. We discovered the La Jolla trail that runs along the coast line and then treated ourselves to some Starbucks afterwards. The rest of the day was spent at the beach and finished at The Baked Bear…aka make your own cookie ice cream sandwiches…yum.

Day 3.

Thursday was our active day. We hiked black mountain 4,500 feet high — Elliot found a friend at the top somehow. Afterwards, we made our way down to Coronado Island and rented bikes for a bit. We rode around and explored the town, and finished with a much needed happy hour at this cute little restaurant on the water. Such a good day.

Day 4.

Today was a much needed relaxation day. We grabbed breakfast down the street, did some shopping and then headed to the beach for the day. Ended the night with dinner with my dad.

Day 5.

Saturday was one for the books. We set off on a walk in the morning and ended up discovering a very secluded path with arguably the best view in La Jolla. We had to use ropes to get us down and some of the perks were a swing and bench to help enjoy the view. We spent hours hanging out and taking it all in. We hiked Torrey Pines with my dad later in the day. That night we took a Sunset Cruise through the San Diego Bay. Talk about romantic, LOL. And even better, afterwards we grabbed some cheesecake to finish off a perfect night.

Day 6.

We checked out a massive farmers market, with just about everything you could imagine..and lots of free samples too. Afterwards, another beach day—we went exploring with my dad. Unfortunately, no pictures; disappointing, I know.

Day 7.

On our last full day we went jet skiing in the morning. A little bit cold, but so so fun. The waves were much bumpier in an ocean. For lunch we ate debatably the best burger and onion rings in the world, we were a little bit sad when we finished. Afterwards, I forced Elliot again to run a hike with me. The view at the end made it all worth it though. We finished the night with some pizza on the beach and the company of a little Ed Sheeran in the background. Topped it off with a little Baked Bear…again…and called it a great week.

Day 8.

But wait! Our flight didn’t leave till later so might as well take advantage of our last couple hours. We did our favorite coast line hike and then decided to take some surfing lessons! Again, unfortunately no pics but you can imagine a couple wipe outs and mouths full of salt water. We did get the hang of it a couple times though. Lastly…we headed to the airport..pulling into the airport as our flight was boarding, I’ll take the blame for that one. We did make it though, only to get stuck in Vegas. Made it home around 3am to put an end to our vacation week. It was one for the books.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
