Living in the South Jersey area has always been a blessing. I'm situated halfway between Atlantic City and Philadelphia. So, driving 40 minutes east can take me to the shore but going west it can also take me into the city.
Growing up, Philly was only known to me as the place I went to go to a Philadelphia Flyers' hockey game or to see "Disney On Ice."
Over the past couple of years, it's become one of my favorite places. If you live in the area or have ever been there, you know that Philly has so much to offer. It's home to some of the greatest sports teams, exciting nightlife, parks, and a beautiful waterfront.
This city is also home to the Super Bowl LII champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, and Rocky Balboa, but in reality, we all know the real claim to fame: The cheesesteak.
Over the weekend, I went into the city with my best friend and her family. We celebrated her birthday by hitting Tony Luke's followed by a trip to IKEA and a cannoli stop called Termini Brother's Bakery.

Going into this sandwich experience I was expecting nothing short of fireworks and a new true love. However... I left feeling like the pickles were more exciting than my sandwich. My cheesesteak was nothing more than steak and American cheese.
Over the years I've heard all the stories of how Philly steaks are the best and are far superior to all others. Word of advice: don't let the hype get you overly excited. While the sandwich was good, it wasn't extraordinary and did not even come close to reaching my expectations.
Perhaps, I was spoiled by growing up in an area where I have a choice of at least 10 different pizzerias or sub shops to chose from at any given time.
The truth is... I'd much rather drive 15 minutes into Hammonton a.k.a. "The Blueberry Capital of the World" and get myself a cheesesteak from Brother's Pizza. Save the time, the effort and the gas.
