Travel while you can!

I know that sometimes it's difficult for younger people to travel due to their lack of funds. I’ve done some research and gathered information from other experienced travelers, and I’ve got some pretty great tips to share. It is possible to save and even earn money while traveling, and I’m going to do my best to help!

To earn:

  1. Teach a class of some sort

Are you good at yoga? There’s someone somewhere who would love to learn. Are you fluent in a language that you know someone would love to learn, for example: English? Teach! There is someone somewhere willing to soak in your knowledge like a sponge. Take advantage of what you already know while you’re traveling to learn more!
  2. Work online

This could be difficult, but millions of people do it every single day. You can take jobs on websites and make cash, believe it or not. Write resumes, edit papers, do web design.. The possibilities are endless!
  3. Use your degree

You didn’t go to college for nothing, use all of the information you learned in college and get to it! Whether it be doing business with someone, or working in a hotel, there’s always a way to apply what you’ve learned in past education.
  4. Bartend

This is a perfect gig for someone traveling, especially for young people. Not only is it a good way to chat people up and make some tips, you can definitely learn a lot from the people you’re waiting on!

To save:

  1. Take advantage of coupons

Companies like Groupon can be your best friend if you use it! The amount of money you can save from it can add up, whether it be for flights, hotels, dinner, etc. Also, it never hurts to google, “free things to do in ____.” I recently learned that if you’re a student, like me, we too get discounts if we present our ID, especially in hotels!
  2. Take advantage of travel bloggers

Once you figure out where you’re going to be traveling, just give google a quick search, typing in something like “London travel blog,” for example and you’ll absolutely learn a lot from the pros of the region you’re going to be traveling to! They more than likely will have endless posts to help visitors like you save money and can give great recommendations on the go-to places.
  3. Travel during “off-season”

Travel to your location when no one else seems to want to; when the weather isn’t completely ideal. It might even be better during those times due to the lack of overwhelming crowds or tourist. You'll see a completely different side of your destination AND you won't get sunburnt!
  4. Track your Spending

Whenever I travel, or even when I don’t, I try my hardest to write down everything I spend. It’s important to do that when you’re spending money or even taking out money at the ATM. If you write it down, you’re more likely to be more conscious of your spending.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
