While most people associate Cheesesteaks and brotherly love with Philly, and while those things are great, there is a lot more to Philadelphia, especially during the holiday season. This holiday, if you are spending time in Philly or want to make a special trip, doing these things is a must.

Here's a list of some places and events you absolutely can't miss if you want to make the most of your break:

1. Winter at Dilworth Park

November 9, 2018 - February 24, 2019

The pop-up shops and food vendors are a must try in Philly! From sweaters to hot cocoa to warm apple cider—you can't miss this.

2. Franklin Square Holiday Festival 

November 15 - December 31, 2018

The Square's electrical holiday spectacle lights up the city and is set to music. Check it out!

3. One Liberty Observation Deck 

November 21, 2018 - January 1, 2019

One Liberty's 360-degree platform is transformed during this time of year to honor special Philadelphia traditions! Head on up to see the city from a new view and all of its beauty.

4. Christmas Village at LOVE Park

November 22 - December 24, 2018

Arguably one of the best places to check out during the holiday season in Philly, Christmas Village at LOVE Park offers it all-- food, shopping, and activities! It's great to head over with your significant other, family, or friends!

5. Longwood Gardens 

November 22, 2018 - January 6, 2019

It may not be directly in the city, but it's perfect for those in the suburbs looking to stay more local to enjoy the holiday lights. Longwood Gardens is perfect for a holiday date or to hang with your fam! The versatile attraction displays more than 500,000 lights!

6. BlueCross River Rink Winterfest

November 23, 2018 - March 3, 2019

The Delaware River turns magical during the holiday season! Ice skating, food and drinks, bonfires, and more! You can't go wrong heading here for a fun night.

7. New Year's Ever Fireworks on the Waterfront

No New Year's party or get togethers planned this year? Grab a few people in the same boat and head down to the Waterfront for an amazing fireworks show to ring in 2019!

8. Mummers Parade

Tuesday, January 1, 2019 | 9 a.m.

The cold doesn't stop Philadelphia from ringing in the new year! This fun parade beginning at City Hall attracts lots of people for drinking, hanging with friends, dancing, and watching the diverse procession. If you haven't been to the parade before, I highly recommend.

9. Christmas in Peddler's Village

November 9, 2018 - January 5, 2019

Another one for those not looking to venture into the city, this cozy "village" in Buck's County is perfect for families with little ones (as well as anyone else) looking to roast marshmallows and see the lights!

10. The Comcast Holiday Spectacular

November 22, 2018 - January 1, 2019

The lobby at Comcast transforms into an awesome light show for the public, this year, it's combining the Nutcracker!

11. The Met Holiday Plaza at City Hall

November 23 – December 23, 2018

During the Philly Holiday Festival at City Hall, the Met Plaza offers some fun attractions! A Christmas tree, carousel, drinks, and fun food complete the rest of the festival!

12. Macy's Christmas Light Show

November 23 - December 31, 2018

The Grand Court at Macy's offers a free light show around a huuuuge Christmas tree! Performances here will take place approximately every two hours. Definitely stop by if you have some free time!

13. Miracle on 13th Street

November 24, 2018 - January 2, 2019

South Philly celebrates too! The extravagant lights hung in this cozy neighborhood make for a perfect nighttime stroll in Philadelphia. Grab some Starbucks (or Dunkin' if you're into that) and take a walk with a loved one.
