The Olympics are just so freaking wonderful and my favorite time of the year. So far the 31st Olympiad has not been short of OMG moments. From Team USA’s Final Five’s Golden Performance in the Women’s Gymnastics Team Finals, swimming all-star Katie Ledecky breaking records and taking names, and how can we forget swimmer Lilly King calling out Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova. All of these things have been awesome moments, but no one is having an outstanding Olympic performance quite like the GOAT himself, Michael Phelps!

Phelps retired after some personal disappoints in the 2012 London Olympic Games. However, he didn’t like how he went out and wanted to right some wrongs in Rio. He has comeback so hard.

The first wrong he made right was the Men’s 4x100 meter freestyle relay. In London, everyone thought that the men would win this relay, but France came out of nowhere and took the gold leaving Team USA for silver. Michael Phelps says in numerous interviews that he didn’t train properly for the London games. He changed his game and his training. Personally, he became a daddy that changed him as well. The development of Michael Phelps over the past four years has been amazing. He lands in Rio, splashed into that pool and took gold with this 4x100 teammates. Gold medal number 20!

The second wrong, the Men’s 200-meter butterfly. In London, four years ago South Africa’s Chad le Clos took gold in the race and it was a shocking moment for sure. I think that after that race and Phelps took silver that maybe he should be done and retire. But Phelps came back. This race took on so much more meaning during the semifinals…and the greatest Internet meme was born. The Phelps face.

Chad le Clos was out there shadowing box and trying to get into Phelps’ head while they were in the ready room. This glorious moment happened.

Phelps came in second in his semifinal heat and then it was go time. It was timed for the finals, and Michael Phelps made that Phelps face and shredded the competition. Gold for Phelps and a fourth place off of the medal stand finish for le Clos.

This Phelps face has many uses in my life. So many uses.

I’m a teacher, so when students make some poor choices and I’m slightly disappointed. Make that Phelps face.

I love Diet Coke and I usually only order it when I’m out to dinner at a restaurant. “Is Diet Pepsi OK?” Make that Phelps face.

Someone asks a question in meeting that was almost over and now the meeting lasts about ten minutes longer. Make that Phelps face.

My personal favorite. “When you are going to get boyfriend / get married / have babies?" I will make the Phelps face with fidelity.

So where are you going to make your Phelps face? I just might make my Phelps face every single day.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
