Phases Of Winter Break (As Told By Gossip Girl)

Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of every college kids' winter break. An entire month (or maybe more) of no papers, presentations, group projects, or online quizzes. The semesterly all nighters for finals are over, and it's finally time to go home and relax.

There are many benefits of being home for the holidays:

1. At least mom and dad take me shopping. And I don't have to pay for it.

2. Look at all this glorious food that I didn't have to buy or make myself! Guess I'm gonna have to hit the gym as soon as I'm back at school (like that'll happen).

3. My mom did my laundry? Yeah, this is the life. I'll just live here forever.

4. Plus family time can be pretty great. They don't judge you for waking up with messy bedhead and leftover makeup from the night before. It rocks.

5. You can't go wrong with hometown friends, either! They made sure you were ready to embrace college and know that you always had people to fall back on.

But then, reality hits...

6. I actually have to ask my mom to go out? Or at least tell her where I'm going? That's weird, I haven't had to report back to someone in months. My roommate doesn't care where I am, as long as I pay my bills.

7. "How many times have you asked?"

8. Wait, who am I supposed to go to Whataburger with at 3 a.m.? I need my friends. They can all fit in my suitcase, right?

9. I have to work? Ew. And it's for like, 30 hours per week. I thought this was a break.

10. And suddenly, here you are, waiting for break to be over.

You know you love me.

XOXO,
Gossip Girl

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
