Pets: One of Life's Greatest Blessings

Why Pets Are The Absolute Best
Annah Smith

So many people love animals. They are often our greatest joy and some would even say their closest friends. I even know people that although they struggle from pet-related allergies, they still decide to have them. There are so many things that make pets better than most humans. I mean, just check out any social media sites and you will see that people share posts with animals any time they want to share some positivity or laughter. Personally, I have recognized a few traits that make my pets the absolute best.

Basically, sometimes I wish I could date my dog. He is loyal, he is always happy to see me, he likes to cuddle, he is a great listener, and he always makes me laugh. My cat is a little bit harder to feel the love from but she is still such a great addition to my life. She is such a comfort, she never hides her feelings from me (I always know when she especially hates me), she likes to go on adventures outside, and she isn't very needy most of the time. Plus, they are super cute!!

I think a lot of humans could learn from animals. For one, the way that they genuinely get excited when they see their family and friends is something we could all be better at. If everyone was as excited to see each other as pets are, then we would all feel so much joy! We could also learn a few things about how animals communicate with people when they are sad. Dogs especially are the best about this. Anytime I am crying my dog will get up in my face and try to lick my tears away, or sometimes he just knows when I just need him to sit next to me. If we as humans could show that much genuine care for each other in times of sadness, maybe we wouldn't be sad that often.

Something about cats that could be a good lesson for humans is the way that they don't hide the way they feel about people. If a cat doesn't like you, you will know. They aren't fake about anything. To a degree this is something that we should do, but not the extent that we are rude! Also, cats are known for their amazing balance. The way that they take such bold leaps with the confidence that they will land, is truly inspiring. We should be more bold in trusting ourselves to be balanced enough to make it through big leaps in life!

The best thing about pets though, is the genuinely dumb things that they do. They do so many silly things that bring everyone so much joy. I mean just google funny dog videos and you will be watching and laughing for days. I think we need to be more bold about doing goofy things. A lot of times we hide our silly sides, but why not let them show and bring a little more laughter into everyone's lives.

Basically, pets are the best and we should try to learn from their pure, wonderful ways!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
