When A Pet Passes Away
Meagan Bloxdorf

It's inevitable, and as much as we hope the day will never come even though we know it will, it never seems hurts any less. Losing a beloved pet, no matter what kind, is heartbreaking and is often much more difficult to take in and process than we expected. No matter the reason, a pet's passing is never taken lightly or easily. However, it's important to remember that your beloved friend is no longer suffering anymore, and has in fact now peacefully passed. Regardless of the state of your pet as they pass, the last thing you want to see is your pet suffering in their last moments. And as hard as it is to see them go, it's far easier knowing they're no longer hurting or merely existing, but rather they are peaceful and finally at rest.

Naturally our world is shaken as they are taken away from us, but luckily the memories we have with our pets live on in our minds and hearts and bring joy to us everyday, as well as the amount of pictures we've come to take of them over time and that can be easily accessed right at our fingertips. The moments we remember all throughout life, like the happiness you and your pet both feel when you come home and greet another after a long day, or the anger from the mess you see when you walk in and already have to clean up, that result from having had the ability to share a life with such a remarkable pet has impacted the lives of not only you and those around the pet, but the pet themselves too.

Although your pet is the only one who could make you feel a little less upset at the moment, since they're unable to comfort you physically, it's important to remember all the times your pet has comforted you when you have been sad, since they can tend to pick up on those things. Instead, your pet would rather you try to see how happy they now are and that they are alright and peaceful after passing, and they'd want you to be happy too. Throughout the course of your relationship you've bonded together and have helped teach and train this animal, and in return they've taught you a lot too, whether it be patience, being more playful or learning how to care for another, our pets have definitely left an impact on us and taught us a lot about how we interact with the world around us. As hard as it is, remember that you gave your pet the best life possible, and because of that they lived a fulfilling and loving life. While they no longer are there to comfort us when we need them most, we know at least that their personality and memories live on within us and through us as we recount all the times we've had with our cherished pets. Their spirit continues to thrive as a constant pool of moments and memories floods through us, and we can feel how they've individually touched our heart, mind and soul. As heartbreaking and gut-wrentching as it can be to lose a part of the family, it's important to remember that they have lived a good life, they have peacefully moved on and they have impacted those around them in unforgettable ways. And to top it all off, you have the experience and the memories of that irreplaceable bond to prove it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
