There are so many reasons as to why everyone should have a pet.Even to all of you that aren’t animal lovers, after you experience the unconditional love of an animal, you'll have a change of heart. Having any type of animal teaches responsibility, but I highly recommend a cat or dog because they're the best fur babies. If you don’t think that you have the time to care for an animal, a cat may be the pet for you; they're super independent as long as you supply the tools they need, and they will be there to cuddle with you at the end of the day. However, if you are a very active person and love to be outdoors, a dog may be the right companion for you. Although animals are dependent upon their owner, you may be just as dependent on your pet as they are on you. Animals are the only friend that you can count on to cuddle up to you five seconds after yelling at them. They are truly the most forgiving creatures and are blessed with the ability to exemplify unconditional love without ever speaking a word.
I know that my best friend came home from the Myrtle Beach Humane Society 13 years ago and that ever since then, my life has been filled with so much more love than I could have ever imagined. Going through four months of recovery and not being able to walk, drive or basically go anywhere but a doctor’s office, my cat Clyde remained my constant companion through it all, and while the rest of the world seemed to keep moving forward, he remained there by my side. Its crazy to think that an animal could have made such a huge difference in my happiness during those months. In what would have been the loneliest time in my life Clyde was always there to keep me company and enjoy the countless hours of sleep with me that I required at the time to get back on my feet. I constantly feel that I am the luckiest person to have a cat like him and I can only pray that everyone has the opportunity to experience a love like that.
So please if you are interested in finding your best friend and a loving companion don't hesitant to visit your local humane society. It's not necessary to spend hundreds of dollars on a pure bred animal to have a pet when there are multiple animals that need homes. Hundreds of animals are killed each year because humane societies are over populated with animals and are not able to care for them all. Even if you are unable to commit to caring for a pet full time, humane societies are always open for donations (food, blankets, etc.) or volunteers who are willing to come spend time with the animals, play with them and take them on walks. Just an hour of your time has the ability to brighten your day and an adorable animal's!
