Before the poem is read, I would like to give a little background information.
Very recently my guinea pig, Leonard, passed away. He was sick his whole life with one thing or another but I loved him overwhelmingly. As a way to grieve, I have written this poem that indicates his last moments from his point of view and from my own.
Chest heaving,
I try to breathe.
Voice speaking,
I try to hold on.
I am leaving but I love you.
Chest heaving,
I try to breathe.
Tears falling,
I try to see.
You leaving,
I am grieving.
