SPLAT Hair Dye

A personal experience with SPLAT Hair dye

My natural hair color is a dark chocolate brown. Before I returned to my college I dyed my hair with Vidal Sassoon's' Burgundy color. After about a month it faded and I decided to take the plunge and tried SPLAT's "Pure Sapphire" semi-terminate hair dye. Following this is my experience with the hair dye and pictures of the process. Below: is a picture of my hair before I dyed it

I thank my roomie for helping with this process because I couldn't I have done it without her. The first step was to bleach my hair so the color would show up. This step stays on for various times depending on how dark your hair color is. Since mine is almost black I left it on for an hour. After it's been on for an hour you are to rinse it out and let your hair dry before putting the hair dye on. Since my hair is shorter I only had to wait for about 15-20 minutes. Below: is a picture after I bleached my hair (sorry that its sideways)

Now for the next step: the first round of dying your hair the desired color. I say first because my hair is so thick and likes to be a pain to do anything with. After she applied the hair dye it again various on your hair but I left it on for about an hour and then rinsed it again. The only difference about this hair dye from the first one I used was that I had to rinse just the hair dye out first and then I could shampoo it. It yet again had to dry for about 15-20 minutes and I realized the part of my hair didn't even take. Below: is a picture of the first dye

Repeat.... Once again.... So I repeated the previous step yet again. I let it dry after washing it once again and to my surprise it all stayed my only concern was that it look more on the green side rather than blue... great. Below: is a picture of the second dye

So I let it dry and then eventually went to bed. The next morning it looked okay but I was still slightly pissed it didn't look like the box. Below is a picture of the morning after I dyed my hair.

The cons of this hair dye are that a lot of it rinsed out when I rinsed it both times. It also turned my scalp blue and I had to use a shampoo and baking soda mixture on it for about an hour and then scrubbed it off.

If you are looking for a bright, fun, off the wall hair color splat is the hair color for you.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
