To My Person

“You’re my person, you’ll always be my person.” -- Grey’s Anatomy

To My Person
Sydney Sutton

To my person, the Meredith to my Cristina, and my soulmate,

Everyone has that one person who understands you better than anyone else. That person understands every quirk about you, knows your darkest secret, yet doesn’t judge you. The person that always has open ears to listen to your problems. I am writing this letter to thank you for all that you do for me.

Thank you for everything that you have done for me the past 18 years. You've always been there for me when nobody else was. You always answer my phone calls when I need to vent to you about a boy or a problem that I may face. You give the best advice and I appreciate every piece that you've ever given me. You have been by my side through both the good and the bad. You have stuck through the highs and the lows. You've been through it all with me and I am forever grateful. I love you so much and I owe you more than you will ever know.

If I call you at 2:30 in the afternoon or morning, you always answer my phone calls. You are always available. You are always down to go get ice cream, cookout, or to just drive around to talk. You are always the first person I text when I have good or bad news.

Thank you for being you. Thank you for never judging me, even when I sound absolutely insane. Thank you for always knowing how to put a smile on my face, even when it's hard to smile. Thanks for being my rock, I have no clue what I'd do without you. Thank you for being there for me when I hit rock bottom. Thanks for always being down for an adventure, no matter how far the ride is. Thank you for having the same taste in music as me and having random dance parties in my living room. Thank you for all the sleepovers, staying up till 3 a.m. talking about life. Thank you for having the same obsession for Ben and Jerry's Phish food ice cream, Sunni Skies, and Cookout. Thank you for always being down for a "Grey's Anatomy" or "One Tree Hill" marathon. Thank you for all the random acts of kindness you do for me. Whether it be a nice text or you bringing me a milkshake, you always know how to brighten my day. Thank you for always being down for a spring break trip. Every spring break during high school, I remember traveling to a different state to explore with you.

You are my other half and everybody knows it. We are forever mistaken as sisters or twins, and we basically are. You literally know all my secrets and everything about me, good or bad. You always push me to be a better person, even when it's hard. You always know the right thing to say to me when I am having an emotional breakdown. You're comforting words soothe me and help remind me that I am strong.

You're going to be the one standing next to me at my wedding, the one sitting in the nursing home with me, the one I'm going grow old with (besides my husband, of course). You're going to be the one by my side until the end.You are my forever friend.

At the end of the day, I'll always have you. Boys and other friends will come and go, but you will always stay.

You're my right hand, my go-to, my best friend, my shoulder to cry on, my partner in crime, my maid of honor. I thank you so much for all that you do for me.

"She's my person. If I murdered someone, she's the person I'd call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor." -- Cristina Yang

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
