Right now you are sitting in your kitchen with your dog at your feet. It's just about one month until sophomore year starts and you get to move back to Dayton. It felt like the second you started college people were already asking you what your plans are after graduation. You just left high school, how were you supposed to know the answer to that? You used to say that you wanted a nice job to pay for big house with an even bigger yard for kids and multiple animals to run around in. You thought you would be okay as long as you made that happen. Having goals is great, but you've come to realize that you should be more focused on the type of person that you want to be.
There are some people with everything they could ever ask for but are still subpar humans. Please don't end up like that. Post college and law school you are going to have a lot of loans to pay, bills to pay for, gas to buy and food to cook. The point is you're probably not going to be able to afford the big comfy house just yet. Be humbled by the journey it's going to take to get there. Learn the value of hard work and never take for granted what you have been able to provide for yourself.
There is always going to be people who have more than you and there's always going to be people who have less than you. Don't forget about the people that are not as fortunate. Continue to use the resources you've been provided to help them. Continue to search for different organizations you can get involved with even if it's just an hour a week or once a month. No time is too little.
Never forget your love of travel. When given the opportunity to pick between purchasing a physical item or go on a trip, even if it's just a day trip to the next state over, pick the trip. The memories you make doing those things will last so much longer and be far more valuable.
Stay focused on forming yourself into the person you want to be. I can't wait to see where the next few years will take you. Always stay kind.
