Yeah, I’m short. But it really isn’t so bad. While I can’t reach certain things or see things because of my height, there are a few things that I like about being my size that others don’t really think about.
1. Being completely content when sleeping on a couch
Most people moan and groan at the thought of having to sleep in a curled up way to fit on the couch when you’re crashing at a friend’s place. But not me. I can stretch my legs all the way and still have couch to support me.
2. Retrieving things stuck in small places
Not all superheroes wear capes. I do come to the rescue when some one drops their favorite ring into a tight area, and my small hands are the only ones that can retrieve it.
3. People always ask, “Can you see?”
This can be annoying, but I enjoy the occasional polite question because most of the time, I in fact, cannot see. So, it’s refreshing to know that other care.
4. I can sometimes get away with buying children's extra large clothing.
Yes, I do this when it is a simple tee or something that is not clear that it is for a child. Children’s clothes are half the price of normal clothes and they fit almost the same if you buy an extra large.
5. People assume I am younger.
And yes this can be annoying for now since I am twenty-one and nobody really believes me, especially when I am trying to buy a drink. But later on, when I actually start climbing years and reaching thirty and beyond, I hopefully can count on my youth sized body to help me out.
6. People squeeze me tight all the time.
I’m not sure if its because they have to bend down to hug me or if they just aren’t used to hugging someone that is only five feet tall, but every time I am embraced, I can’t breathe. But I like it because I feel loved by the tall people.
