Perks Of Being In A Small Fraternity

There is nothing wrong with being in a large sorority or fraternity, but they aren’t for everyone. For me, I found a family when I joined my twenty-eight member strong fraternity. While not everything is a walk in a park, the positive aspects of being in a small fraternity definitely outweigh the negative aspects. Here are some of the benefits to being a member of a small Greek organization.

1. Each brother/sister will have more leadership opportunities.

With larger Greek organizations, a member might only hold one leadership position even after multiple years with the organization. In a small organization, a member can hold multiple leadership positions, from committee chair positions or executive board positions.

2. Each brother/sister’s voice is heard in decision-making

Even for those who never hold leadership positions in their organization, they can still voice their opinions more easily. This allows everyone to have a say in the future of the organization.

3. Finding venues for events is easier.

Having fewer people means that you can have a smaller venue for events, which keeps the costs down.

4. You don’t have to worry about cliques forming in the chapter.

With so few people, the likelihood of cliques forming is unlikely and the ones that do form are not strong enough to affect the future of the organization.

5. Cost is lower.

The dues for smaller fraternities tend to be less in comparison to the larger organizations on campus. While this will make your budget smaller, it’s a lot easier on your wallet.

6. You get to know your brothers/sisters better.

Most importantly, the relationships between each member will be more intimate. Within the first week of being a member, you can learn the names and faces of your sisters, and your relationship will only grow from that point on.

Just because a small fraternity was the best option for does not mean that it is the best option for everything. Like any other organization, it is important to understand the goals of the organization and its member before committing to membership.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
