If you're lucky enough to have a house by the lake, you're lucky enough

The Perks of Living By A Lake
Dani Nelson

Growing up in Minnesota gave me the privilege of being able to enjoy lake life. Lake life is spending days laying out on a boat not worrying about anything else. It’s jumping off docks and eating at Zorbaz nearly every weekend of the summer. It’s waking up early to watch the sunrise on the lake, and staying up late to watch it set next to a bonfire. It’s true bliss. I wouldn’t give up the amazing summers, the wipeouts, the laughs, the friends, the adventures, or the memories for anything. Here are a few reasons why lake life is the best life.

1. The sunsets on the lake

Nothing beats an evening pontoon ride while watching the sunset. The colors and the scenery will immediately send you into a state of awe. There is something about watching it on the water makes it that much better.

2. Your back yard is literally a lake

There are endless summer possibilities when you have a lake right in your backyard. You can go boating, tubing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, paddle boarding, and so much more. You will never have a boring day while up north, whether it be sitting on the pontoon listening to music and enjoying the sun, or just hanging out on the dock, there is always something to do.

3. You don't have to travel far to get away

You soon learn that being only a few hours or even minutes away from a lake is a luxury. You don’t have to spend days in a car or even hours on a plane to get to an amazing getaway. It is truly a gift.

4. Bonfires are even better with a view

Nothing says Minnesota summer like a night bonfire by the lake. Not only do you get to enjoy the warmth of the fire and the treats that come with it, but you also get to enjoy the view. Unlike normal bonfires in a back yard, you get to enjoy the beauties of a lake. Nothing is better than being able to pull out your oversized sweatshirts (the comfiest kind of course) and cuddling up with good friends while sharing good laughs.

5. You and your friends will always have a summer place

When you and your friends want to get away but don’t want to go through the laboring tasks of planning a whole trip, you can always go up to the lake. It’s easy, enjoyable, and laid back for everyone. It is very hard to turn down an invite to a friend’s cabin.

6. Zorbaz is a gift from the heavens

If you have never been to Zorbaz, you have never lived. Period. It’s the best combination of Mexican, Italian, and who knows what else. Located right on the lake, there is no better spot to grab some friends, dock your boat, and enjoy lunch. Zorbaz is always has a fun, energetic, summer loving crowd waiting for you to join in.

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.
