My whole life people always ask if my hair is naturally curly. My answer is always yes and that it's been like this my whole life. I didn't however always love my curly locks. As most little girls, I wanted to look like everyone else, and it seemed that everyone else had straight hair.
After going through many awkward phases of brushing my hair (never brush curly hair), only wearing it up, straightening my hair everyday, to finally appreciating my curly hair. Although it took me getting older to love my hair, I would never trade my signature look, and believe it or not, but having curly hair has its perks and here are five of my favorites.
1. Stying is simple
Having curly hair doesn't take much to style once you've found the right products that work for you. After your shower, you just scrunch, dry, and go! Your hair looks neat and done in just a few short minutes.
2. Messy buns look great
My favorite way to wear my hair back is in a bun because it's not only easy to hold the thick locks, but the "messy bun look" has never looked better. A bun that's done right can look cute and professional.3. Curly hair can rock any color
I've gone from brown, to red, and all over blonde highlighted hair and each time I always receive compliments on the color. Curly hair holds color well and because of the volume, any color, whether vibrant or subtle, looks great!4. You can wear your hair straight too
A lot of girls who have straight hair struggle with holding a curl, even with a gallon of hairspray, but as long as you have a decent straightener and a couple hours to spare, curly haired girls have rocked the pinpoint straight hair look!
5. It looks good long or short
My hair used to be past my butt, and then one day I chopped it all off to be a cute little lob (a long bob). Curly hair looks great both long and short and although I think short hair fits me now, who knows, I might decide to grow it out again and either way will look fab.
To all my curly haired girls out there, embrace it! Only we can understand one another's struggles of dealing with curly hair, but once in a while, we have to acknowledge the perks too.
