The Perfectly Good Bad Influence

We always say we're going to stop. But let's face it, we're not fooling anyone.

The Perfectly Good Bad Influence

Let's face it, we all make really stupid mistakes. And we always say we're going to stop making this dumb decisions over and over again. But then before we know it, we're making the same mistake for the millionth time. Why do we keep fighting the inevitable? Let's embrace the things we can't change, and listen to that devil on our shoulder.

Accidentally getting blackout on a Tuesday.

It's been a long day at work, you didn't take a lunch break and 3 drinks in you realize you haven't eaten today. But you know what, you deserve to relax so you order another one. And maybe 2 more after that. WHO CARES? This is college, and in the real world you'll be considered "an alcoholic", so drink up while you can.

Going out to the bar on nights we have stuff to do.

Unless it's a major test, there's always room to procrastinate a little more. I am the queen of procrastination. Life should be fun and a night out with the girls is fun. Going to bed early is not fun. I'm not saying you should stay out so late you don't get whatever it is you needed to do the next morning, but just long enough to have a good time.

Making out with that hot guy you just met.

He's really hot and you're into him, so just go for it! Who knows? This could end up being the love of your life. Why not take a chance? If he doesn't end up being the love of your life, at least you made out with a super hot guy. Right? It's just some innocent fun.

Skipping class.

This one I wouldn't do all the time, because your education is important. But a class here or there to go to the beach isn't going to hurt. They always say salt water cures everything, so spend as much time there as possible. And besides, it's hard to focus in class if you're stress, so might as well relax on the beach.

Going shopping with money you don't have.

You have your whole life to be financially responsible while you repay all those student loans, so go shopping while you can! So what you eat mac and cheese for two weeks? That new Kate Spade bag is totally worth it. And you know your parents won't let you starve, so go ahead and blow your paycheck on a mini-vacation with friends.

Eating fast food.

Whether is 1 PM on your way to the beach, or 2 AM on your way home from the bar, GET THE NUGGETS. Just do it okay. Carbs are your friend, carbs will understand you. You can eat healthy once you have a stable job. Get the nuggets, they're cheap.

Waiting until the last minute to study and pulling consecutive all-nighters.

Like I said, I am the queen of procrastination. As a result, I have mastered the art of cramming for a test and surviving an all-nighter. Trust me I've heard it all. "Courtney you need your sleep." "Courtney your going to fall asleep during your test." "You can focus if your tired Courtney." I can, and I will. So have fun, stay out too late, and then grab a coffee so you can stay up all night learning everything you need to get that A. And then nap all day after your test. You deserve it.

Life is short. So just say screw it and live in the moment. You have the rest of your life to be boring and responsible. So make these dumb mistakes while you can, and while it's still socially acceptable. You're only in college one, amiright?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
