Perfection is defined by the Webster Dictionary as "the condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects."
Let's break it down.
"The condition, state or quality" -- our bodies, our minds, our position, our situation, our character, our mood, our environment, our shape, our make, our virtue, or our essence.
"Of being free or as free" -- completely rid of, without, not confined by, throughly clear of, outwardly complete, or not bound by.
"As possible" -- achievable, imaginable, potential, conceivable, desirable, feasible, attainable, obtainable, hypothetical, probable, available, or thinkable.
"From all flaws or defects" -- blemish, defect, fault, bug, glitch, weakness, typo, spot, stain, disfigurement, blotch, smudge, crack, deficiency, error, irregular, drawback, rough spot, or mistake.
Now put together your own definition. What does perfection mean to you? For most of us, our own definition of perfection defines what we feel we lack ourselves. This could include your body, your image, your dress size, your emotional status, your relationship status, your face, your intelligence, your family, and so on. Your definition is most likely defined by what you do not see in yourself. It's what you think is holding yourself back from perfection.
But then again, who is to say perfection even exists? Even the most perfect human you know has imperfections and flaws that keep her from believing in her supposed perfection. See where I am coming from? At the end of the day, the only person to say we are not perfect is ourselves.
For a word so commonly thrown around, it is so anticlimactic. Being perfect really isn't the end-all-be-all. Honestly, it is just another adjective. But if it is just another adjective, why is it something so many strive for?
Go out there, make your own definition of perfection, and don't let your "blemishes, mistakes, weaknesses, or blotches" affect you. You're the one who gets to say you're perfect. Other people's opinions aren't perfect anyway.
