The Perfect Summer Playlist
Favim

I have always been a music freak and creating playlists is just something that I love to do in my spare time. So I decided to share with you the PERFECT summer playlist for you people heading to the beaches, or going on adventures, or just want some fun upbeat music to listen too.

1. "Adventure" by Cheat Codes

This song is very upbeat, it’s one of those songs that’s perfect for listening too while relaxing at the beach or running to work on that “summer body.”

2. "Fast Car" (Jones Blue Ft. Dakota Remix – original song by Tracy Chapman)

I LOVE this song. It’s catchy and it’s the definition of summer. I’ll be honest, I’m a total sucker for the original song of it but hearing this version seriously brought back a true classic.

3. "Seeing Stars" by BORNS

I just started recently getting into BORNS and I have to admit, they have a perfect upbeat sound that you want to listen to with your windows down and sunglasses on, this song specifically.

4. "Freaks" by Timmy Trumpet ft. Savage

This was my song last summer, it was constantly on replay. No matter what, every time I played it I couldn't help but dance to it, constantly has a great vibe. And yet again, this song will be on repeat all summer.

5. "Polarize" by Twenty One Pilots

Of course I have to have a band that is from Columbus (aka where I live). If you haven't listened to Twenty One Pilots before, now is the perfect time! These two guys bring upbeat music with interesting lyrics. Their entire album Blurryface is great to listen to at any time of the day and any time of the year.

6. "Do or Die" by Flux Pavilion ft. Childish Gambino

A friend showed me this and at first, I was a little off about this song. However, I'm a sucker for Childish Gambino. After listening to it two more times, I started playing it non-stop. It has a catchy beat and it makes you want to get up and dance.

7. "Fix My Eyes" by For KINGS & COUNTRY

I just found this song a few weeks ago, and I couldn't even tell you how I came across it. Sometimes those just happen and to me they are blessings because now I found a song that I can put on my summer playlist. They kind of sound like American Authors, and if you've ever listened to them, you know that they have a generic pop sound. This song is good for relaxing on the beach, soaking in some Vitamin C.

8. "Cheap Sunglasses" by RAC

This song is the definition of summer. It's an usual beat, something I've never really heard before but it's catchy. I found this song awhile ago because it was the free song of the week on iTunes. This song actually was blasting in my headphones while I was hiking.

9. "All of Me" by Tanlines

I don't remember when I found this song but it's in a lot of movies. It's not that big, but if you've seen Endless Love that came out a few summers ago - you'll recognize in one of the scenes that it's this song! The perfect song for a pool party, or just casually lounging around outside getting some sun.

10. "The Sunshine of Your Youth" by Cheerleader

This song is a little bit slower. It's an Indie song that I found from an iTunes Song of the Week, just like "Cheap Sunglasses." I think this song is best for an end of the day, hang out with your friends. It's the perfect song to listen to with a campfire crackling in front of you, something to end the perfect day with.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
