We're back to college, and things are going to be messy and busy for the first few weeks, but it's all in excitement and energy.
Hopefully the messiness and craziness won't last for long, and once settled down in your routine you may be looking for a new show to watch. On my holiday break, I binge watched a few shows, the one that sticks out though was Degrassi next class.
True, it's set in a high school atmosphere, and I know that most of us aren't really interested in looking back at high school drama, but, it's really not your typical high school show. The main reason I think it's outstanding is because there's quite brilliant variety of representations in the show, whether it comes to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identities.
There's only few shows out there that have this wide variety of different communities being represented on TV. and it made me personally very happy to see my own life- and the lives of many of you, I believe- to be seen on TV.
It's also really worth mentioning that there are a lot of intersectional identities playing a big role on the show, which I believe is super important. The research and truth put in the show is highly appreciated, because the crew is doing it right, and a small example to that was one Syrian character joining the school in season 3 , there were many true aspects and facts to the character that are very relevant and honest, unlike what we usually see in Hollywood movies and news channels.
The show surrounds sexual health and life problems millennials face on an everyday basis. I would recommend this show for anyone who is interested in keeping up with modern conflicts.
