Taking The Perfect Selfie

But first, let me take a selfie.

What is one of the most important things in the world to 18-to-20-something females these days? Taking a perfect selfie, that's what. Why is this important? Well, when you take a perfect selfie, you can post it online, and of course, that has a ton of benefits. The best thing about posting a fire selfie is the reactions of your followers. You get likes by the dozens and your most faithful followers will even throw you a comment. Another benefit is that you just posted a photo that you look hot as hell in. Your ex will see it and regret everything they ever did to you. Your ex's new girlfriend will see it and wish she was as hot as you. The boy you've been obsessed with all semester will see it and fall madly in love with you.

To be able to take the perfect selfie takes a lot of practice. With time, your selfies eventually go from this...

To this...

Here are 6 tips that will improve your selfie game.

1. Lose the mirror.

Mirror selfies are a thing of the past. Yes, they were very convenient when phones didn't have front cameras. Taking a mirror selfie shows off more than just you, it shows off the mess behind you. You do not want the guy you've been obsessed with to look at a photo of you and only think "Damn, she needs to clean her room." That's honestly embarrassing.

2. Learn your angles.

This is crucial. You can give yourself a double chin in the matter of seconds if you are not careful. The good thing about selfies is that you should take about 50 to 100 before you decide which one to post. This is the perfect time to practice your angles. The more you practice them, the lower the number of selfies you take trying to get a good one should get.

3. Find your lighting.

The best lighting for a selfie is for sure the sun. It brightens up the picture in a natural way and it makes you look phenomenal. Find a window and sit or stand in front of it and look at the difference. For maximum lighting, just go outside.

4. Try something different.

You don't want to scroll through your Instagram profile and have 100 percent of your selfies all with you doing the duck face. It gets repetitive, and I'm telling you that people notice. What's the point of posting if your followers have seen the same exact picture every time you've taken a selfie? This also shows that you don't only have one good pose, you have an assortment.

5. Easy on the editing.

Please do not edit the sh*t out of your face. If someone sees you in person, you want them to recognize you from your Instagram posts, not have them wonder if you're the same person. Most of the time, one simple filter is all a photo needs when it comes to editing, so don't go overboard.

6. Know when to post.

You want the likes, don't lie to yourself. You need to know the online prime times to get maximum number of people to see it. The more people who see your photo, the more people who will like your photo.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
