The Perfect End to a Perfect Summer

Who doesn't love a little Luke Bryan?

The Perfect End to a Perfect Summer

Okay so technically it's fall, but how do you expect me to agree that summer is over when the temperature in Charleston is 83 degrees everyday? This past weekend I was invited to go to the Luke Bryan Farm Tour with some of my best friends and it was honestly one of the best concert experiences of my life. And what says summer more than an incredible country concert on a Friday night with your best friends?

The journey from Chuck Town to Culler Farms took about 2 hours, but it was well worth the wait and anticipation. Of course we all got there a few hours early to tailgate with the country music blasting and the American Flag hanging from the tent.

Now this concert venue wasn't like anything else you've ever experienced. When I say it was on Culler Farm...it was literally on a farm. The concert was spread out over 100+ acres of farm land including the parking "lot" and the stage and concert center. People from all over were there to drink, listen, and sing along to the wonderful songs of Luke Bryan and his opening act, Cole Swindell.

Of course we all arrived fashionably late somewhere in the middle of Cole's opening act, but the atmosphere of the concert was amazing! I ran into some Theta's waiting in line to buy waters and even saw some old friends throughout the night. The best part about general admission tickets is that it's first come, first serve, so anywhere you wanted to park your butt is where you got to enjoy the show.

Throughout Luke's set, we were able to push our way fairly close to the front where he was singing and reaching out to as many fans as possible. At one point, he encouraged a little girl in pink cowgirl boots and a hat to get on stage with him and sing as he spun her around dancing. It was probably the cutest thing I had ever seen because Luke Bryan's smile just melted my heart.

My favorite part of a concert is when the singer holds the mic out to the crowd and let's them sing part of the verse. Everyone gets so into it. My second favorite part is the dancing. In between sets, they would play more pop songs and everyone knew the words and had their own versions of dances. My friends and I had the best time singing and dancing around. It's like we were in our own little world.

The weather was perfect, the crowd was entertaining, and most importantly, Luke Bryan was as amazing as ever live. If I could do it all over again this weekend, I would 100% jump on the opportunity to end my summer just one last time.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
