The William Jewell Cardinal drumline just had their first performance last Saturday. It was very exciting to see how everyone reacted. The drumline did not stay for the entire game, but the time they were there seemed to go over great. This past Saturday was the first game they attended the entire time.

Football players seemed to be pumped to have the drumline there, playing in support for the team. The drumline leads them out onto the field, then forms a tunnel for the players to run through. It is so exciting to watch them run through and see how pumped they are for the game. The dance team and cheerleading squad are already out there when we head off the field.

The fans seem to enjoy having us there to play for the team. During the game, we play chants with the cheerleading squad, so they can cheer with us as we play. The dance team also dances when we are able to play the songs that we have ready. The coaches are also excited to work along with us so we can all work together.

The fans seem to enjoy listening to us perform. They tell everyone of us that we sounded very good and that they enjoyed having us there. Students have said they loving seeing a drumline at Jewell because they miss seeing one from high school. They also tell us they think it adds something special to the games while providing entertainment. One staff member said she was excited when she heard the drumline was coming to Jewell. When we performed, they would tell us how much they have missed having a drumline at Jewell. A gentleman told us today after our halftime performance that so much energy was added to the crowd when we were performing.

When I hear people say this and tell me these things, it provides so much more excitement and makes me want to perform as best as I can. It shows me that I am doing something great for them. It also shows me that all of the work I have put into practicing for my performance was worth it. I did my best, everyone loved it and they will never forget what was brought before them.

When I first joined drumline, I was worried it would not get the reaction we wanted or that people would not be as excited to have us there. I am so glad that I have gotten to be a part of the new addition to Jewell that everyone is grateful for.
