People Watching In The Airport

All human life can be found in the airport.

People Watching In The Airport

Going through an airport, you see all types of people. Personally, it is fun to pick out and analyze the different types. As it is summer and all different kinds of people are traveling, the types vary greatly. People watching in airports is one of the most entertaining activities because you see the repeats of various groups, pairs, and individuals. So I compiled a list of the biggest repeats. Watch out for these people the next time you travel. Maybe it will make you smile like it makes me smile.

The Stressed Out Parent

This is the parent that has what seems 50 bags and screaming children. This vacation is more of a punishment for this parent and they often threaten “we can go right back home if you don’t start behaving.” We’ve all seen this scenario one too many times.

The Ready For Vacation Dad

This is the guy with the sunglasses on with his Hawaiian shirt. Questionable if he’s already a little drunk, but it’s okay as long as he doesn’t make any dad jokes...right? Who are we kidding…he’s definitely making very loud dad jokes, embarrassing all of his children over the age of twelve in the process.

The Business

This is the guy in the uncomfortable looking suit with the passenger bag slung over his shoulder. Often on the phone, talking more business and walking faster than the rest of the crowd. Sometimes, he’s stopped at one of the outlet stations, rapidly typing emails to his clients.

The Lost Teenager

This is the teen that is finally going to visit grandma alone, but has never been in an airport before without their parents to guide them. You can tell they’re lost by the constant wavering eyes and unsure movements. They’re still not every confident in their abilities as a young adult.

The Kid That's Done This Too Many Times Alone

This is the kid that probably has divorced parents that have done this for what seems a million times, going back and forth between mom and dad. Poor kid. They navigate with ease through the airport, not stopping to think for a second.

The Super Excited, Old Married Couple

This is the elderly couple that are enjoying their retirement. Maybe they’re going on a cruise or going to visit their children in different states. Anyways, they’re pretty cute.

The Young Adult

This is the not quite a kid, not quite an adult category. They don’t fit either and they’re usually going to visit friends from college that live across the country. They’re figuring things out which is pretty cute.

The Group

The group that goes on vacation together, stays together…right? They’re super loud and super excited for the nights they live for but don’t remember. This is a fun group to watch because of all of the personalities within.

The Newlyweds

They’re super lovey dovey and refer to each other as “honey” more often than not. They’re trying to keep everything at ease and loving since after all, they did just tie the knot. Often times, the bride is still wearing white.

The Military Personnel

Thank you for your service. I appreciate you. Everyone usually flashes a smile at this person.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
