Netflix's wave of new additions has recently brought in the award-winning miniseries, "American Crime: The People vs OJ Simpson." Although it's been out for several years and everyone and their mother has probably seen it, if you haven't it's time to get to it. Not only is it incredibly made and absolutely gripping, but it really gives a unique perspective on the case.
The original trial happened before I was born, so all that I've heard about it has been second-hand. This show helps to close that gap and give a more holistic picture than what you may see in other news coverage. It originally caught my attention because I happen to be particularly interested in law, but I really think that it will interest just about anyone.
Don't get me wrong, it is not a documentary and everything in the show should not be taken literally word-for-word, but it does accomplish a telling depiction of the major effect that the case had. It was an incredibly polarizing time, and this show retells the events in a way that really analyzes both sides and how they felt.
Unlike others, this recounting of the events gives equal insight to both sides of the case. Seriously, if we all didn't already know the verdict I would have no idea who would win. I know that it may not seem like it's for everyone, but it's totally worth a shot! Each episode is a total cliffhanger and you will literally finish it in two days while working a full-time job. I know, because I have.
I think that anyone who loves true crime or is even remotely interested in the trial should watch it; you've got to catch up before the next "American Crime" story becomes available!
