Once high school is over it is easy to cling onto it because it is whats familiar after all you spent the last four years of your life there, getting close to people, and making a name for yourself. I am not trying to say the second you get that diploma to block everyone on your social media that was from your high school like some people I graduated with, but I am saying do not let yourself be so consumed in your high school life that you cannot move on from it. I feel like there are two very extremes after graduation, one being you cannot move past your high school self and the other is you pretend that part of your life did not even happen. The trick is to find a healthy medium.
For all the people who cannot move on, ask yourself why is it so hard to let go? If you do not know whether I am talking to you answer these questions do you find yourself going to every high school event? Or do you find yourself hanging out with all your high school friends 24/7? If you answered yes you probably are stuck in high school.
There is a whole world out there that you are not allowing yourself to experience because you are clinging onto something that was only a section of your life. High school is only four years for a reason, while those four years teach you so much about yourself you still have a lot of growing to do.
I know that there is always a part of me that will look back on high school with fond memories, but there is a bigger part of me that is happy that I have gone through it. If you are having a hard time letting go of high school just know that I know it can be scary. It feels like just when you get comfortable in high school you are told you have to leave and move on to the real word which is terrifying. Just take a deep breath and have faith that everything will work out in the end.
