Dear former apartment residents,
Thank you for graciously deciding that you will no longer be living in the apartment that my three roommates and I now call home. Whether you graduated, decided to study abroad, or found other residential accommodations this year, we will definitely take good care of this place and make many memories, just as you did.
As my roommates and I conclude hanging decorations throughout the apartment (consisting of multiple string lights, motivational quotes, and posters) we can finally settle into the same couches, beds, and desks as you did and begin our sophomore year at the University of Minnesota. Thank you for never signing out of your Netflix account on our Apple TV so we can leisurely watch whatever we desire without the hassle needed to set up one of our accounts on the TV. Thank you for forgetting that expensive Free People sweater behind one of your beds that we found (and washed) and is now hanging in one of my roommates' closet, upping her wardrobe. We also wanted to thank you for the washing machine that smells a little bit like mold, the leaking shower head, the squeaky and dangerous beds, and broken chair that required us to get very familiar with the apartment maintenance staff and leasing office within the first week of living here.
Although we've most likely never met, we still have a special bond. This bond of walking in the same footsteps makes us closer than we may ever be with our own friends. It's strange to think that we may have walked past each other on the street or may have been in the same class together, without even knowing that we would be living in the same place at different times.
Whether or not you enjoyed living in this apartment or thought it was an absolute disaster, my roommates and I will expand the diversity of students that have lived here throughout the years and we are excited to see what this year has in store for us. Living in our first apartment for only a week now, my roommates and I are learning to be more independent than we ever were before and we know that all of you learned what we are learning now, thanks to this apartment. There is nothing more exciting than the freedom of finally living on your own, cooking your own food, and living the life you want, and my roommates and I will not take this opportunity for granted, as we know you didn't either.
All in all, thank you for caring for this apartment to the best of your ability (minus the small details mentioned previously) and passing it down to us to take care of and to create memories in this year. We are very excited to start the school year and have an even better college experience than we could ever imagine, filled with laughter, knowledge, happiness, and independence.
Sincerely The New Residents,
Claire, Kara, Hayley, and Paige
