Top 10 must watch list of “Freeform’s” 25 Days of Christmas
With Christmas approaching soon, it means it is my favorite time of year to watch television because it’s time for ABC Family’s (I prefer not to call it Freeform) annual 25 Days of Christmas! It is actually sad how excited I get for this program, but I’m not ashamed of it by any means. This year’s list includes the long – time favorites (Elf, The Santa Claus, etc.), but there are also a few new additions. I am here to take the burden off of anyone’s shoulders who can’t decide which movie(s) to watch, because not many people have time to watch every single one of them (but if you do, I envy you very much). Although it’s been a couple of weeks since the first day of the 25 days, the movies repeat throughout the month, so don’t worry if you missed any days!
Lets do this.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
It’s a movie that is great to watch with the fam while sipping on a big cup of hot cocoa. Everything that could go wrong for this family goes wrong, but they stick together and learn the true meaning of Christmas and what really matters. (Cries happy tears).
When it’s scheduled:
Dec. 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 24th, 25th
Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas
Is it a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie?? Or both?? The world may never know. Nonetheless, I still love this movie and can remember watching it as a youngin’. As weird as this may sound, I may have even had a small crush on Jack, but I loved it when (SPOILER) him and Sally finally got together. Some people hate this movie, but I will forever love it and I think its uniqueness deserves a spot on this list.
When it’s scheduled:
Dec. 12th, 13th, 17th, 18th, 22nd, 23rd
The Santa Clause
Ugh I know I keep repeating this, but I love this movie! This is another great movie to watch with the fam on Christmas day while unwrapping your presents (if your parents still do that for you). It has everything people love about Christmas movies, so if you haven’t seen it, give it a chance.
When it’s scheduled:
Dec.14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 24th
The Polar Express
I actually use to hate this movie because the first time I watched it in 5th grade I thought it was the most boring movie ever made. However, I watched it again last year (first time since 5th grade), and I really enjoyed it! It takes you think back to the time when you were young and Christmas seemed so much more magical…you know, before you knew the truth. *Silently cries*
When it’s scheduled:
Dec.12th, 16th, 17th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 25th
Elf
SON OF A NUTCRACKER I LOVE THIS MOVIE! Elf is a staple Christmas movie, so if you haven’t seen it yet I’m not sure why that is. Maybe you don’t like Christmas or something. If you have seen it, then you understand why it’s on this list.
When it’s scheduled:
Dec.12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 25th
Arthor Christmas
This movie is actually pretty new, and I’m not sure if it has played on the 25 Days before. I just watched it for the first time this year, and I loved it! It has a different idea of Santa Claus (a little more believable, honestly) and a modern twist on the traditional ideas. Really good movie for kids and adults alike! Becaue lets be honest, adults love watching the kid movies just as much.
When it’s scheduled:
Dec. 15th, 24th, 25th
The Holiday
It wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of people haven’t seen this movie, because I don’t feel like it’s that well known. Its probably more of a romantic comedy/geared towards women but, it’s still a great movie and kind of makes me wish I were cuffed this season. But then again, not really. (Cuffing season really is a thing people)
When it’s scheduled:
Dec. 20th
Santa Claus is coming to town
This is a classic, a must; you absolutely have not had a real Christmas if you didn't watch this with your family at some point during your childhood. EVERYONE has seen this movie, EVERYONE. If you that one person that has not, then please, watch it! Yes, it is a little outdated and the quality isn't "high def", but that's what makes it a classic and special. So go get your Christmas spirit on!
When it’s scheduled:
Dec. 21st, 23rd,25th
Jingle All The Way
Arnold Schwarzenegger takes on many obstacles trying to get one toy for his son, and it’s entertaining the entire time. The Santa smack down scene is probably one of my favorites of all time. Like a lot of Christmas movies, the lesson in the end is family is what matters most and Christmas is a time when everyone realizes that (but probably should have realized it sooner, tbh).
When it’s scheduled:
Dec.16th, 17th, 22nd, 23rd
Scooged (1988)
Lets be honest, any movie with Bill Murray in it will probably be a good one. In this movie he takes on the role of Frank Cross who is an inconsiderate and arrogant executive of a television network, so a “modern” twist on the classic tale. You probably know how the movie plays out, but this version is really great and deserves some attention. So watch it if you have time!
When it’s scheduled:
Dec. 24th, 25th
Honorable mentions:
Toy Story (not really Christmas movie, nevertheless, great movie)
Disney Frozen (its frozen, of course it’s somewhere on this post)
The year without Santa Claus (another classic)
Disneys A Christmas Carol(almost made the list, but not quite)
*Side note*: I really don’t understand why the Grinch wasn’t on the list at all this year. It actually really upset me. Come on ABC; give the people what they want.
