When your birthday is in December, it's often bittersweet. It's fun because what month is more beautiful than December? Everyone has lights up and the frost and snow adds to nature's beauty. But there are a lot of things that make you wish you had a birthday in any other month of the year.

1. Your birthday is often forgotten.

With all of the holiday hustling, people tend to put you and your day on the back burner.

2. Your birthday and Christmas presents are often combined.

This is especially true the closer your birthday is to Christmas.

3. You often get less birthday/Christmas gifts than your siblings or cousins.

Yeah, your pile is the same as your siblings on Christmas day, but you got way less on your birthday than they did on theirs.

4. You spend your birthday money buying Christmas gifts for other people.

Forget using that money for that tattoo you want or that new car, you need to buy Christmas gifts.

5. Guilt can be present.

After so many years of your gifts getting combined, you often feel a little guilty when someone does pay attention to your birthday as a separate date...mostly because you're not used to all the presents.

6. Your day is hardly ever your day.

Most people are allowed to be completely selfish on their birthdays. Not December babies. It's hard to be selfish when everyone else is in such a giving mood.

7. No fun birthday parties.

As a kid, you were often jealous because you couldn't have a pool party or go camping for your birthday. You were often stuck inside binge-watching Christmas movies.

8. No one cares.

Once you get to college, your friends are too busy being preoccupied with finals and the upcoming break to remember (or care about) your birthday.

9. People always tell you how much it must suck to have a December birthday

We are already aware of this, thanks.

10. You have to wait all year for any kind of present.

Probably the worst part of having a December birthday. You have to wait 12 whole months to get spoiled/gifted again.

Despite all of these problems December babies have to suffer through, we still love our birthdays...mostly. And we are proud to have a birthday in such a beautiful month, even if we do get ignored.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
