Winter is not our season.

I am the person who is always cold, and I am so sorry about that. I’m the one who borrows jackets and shivers if it’s below 70 degrees. I wish I wasn’t like this, but I am.

And when you ask me “how the heck do you survive the winter?,” my answer is as good as yours. I really have no idea. I have battled through 21 winters, so whatever I’m doing must be working.

I have compiled a list of things you might consider getting for that person in your life who is just too cold to function. We all know one. They’re that person who only uses the AC for two weeks out of the year.

1. An electric blanket.

Hello, it’s a blanket that heats up! You don’t have to waste your precious body heat on warming it yourself. You can even turn it on before you get into bed and you don’t have to worry about cold sheets.

2. Wool socks.

Move over, fuzzy socks. Wool socks are for the true cold people.

3. Sherpa throws.

If you aren’t ready for the commitment of an electric blanket, buy a Sherpa. They are so soft and cozy that you’ll want to carry it around with you forever -- which is why I often have one in my car. I’m a classy gal.

4. Fleece-lined leggings.

If you are a leggings-wearer, these will change your life. They are soft and keep you so warm, but they also make you look like you have your life together.

5. Travel coffee mug.

So you can bring your hot drink with you anywhere.

6. Fuzzy boots.

These ones are from TOMS, so they give a pair of shoes to those who need them. I have two pairs and they save my life when the weather turns against me. If you live in a place where it is wet, you might want to waterproof them.

7. Scarves, hats, and gloves.

A scarf can go a long way. Blanket scarves are incredible because they’re also a blanket! Two birds, one stone, people! A hat is a no-brainer; you have to keep your thoughts warm. Gloves -- duh. Get the ones with the touch technology so you can still Tweet about how cold you are.

8. Footie pajamas.

I wear mine around the house all day. It has a hood, so can you blame me?

9. A fuzzy robe.

Another staple. Mornings are hard; fuzzy robes make them better.

10. Cabin socks.

They’re just fuzzy socks with grips on the bottom. My roommate is obsessed with them now. I’m determined to make them a trend.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
