I've never really considered myself a feminist or anything like that, but I definitely do believe in women having the same rights as men. More importantly, when a woman is successful I don't think her success should be taken away by comparing her to a man.

I'm sure we're all familiar with UCONN's women basketball program by now after having a 107 game winning streak. As of March 5th, it's been 841 days since they've lost a game and they've had 104 double-digit wins during that streak. INSANE! A major contributer to that success is known by the name Katie Lou Samuelson. In their 107th win against South Florida for the AAC crown, she went off for an astounding 40 points and went 10 for 10 from the 3-point line. In an NCAA article, they state that only 1 Div. I men's player has done that, and NO NBA player has ever achieved this feat. Not comparing the different players, just stating what an accomplishment it is for her and how hard it is to achieve.

Well it didn't take long for Twitter haters to start bashing her and women's basketball with some crude comments sexualizing her and taking away her accomplishments by saying the only reason she could do it is because women's basketball is so much easier than men's. "In no way or chance could she have done this on her own because she doesn't have skills." *said in a sarcastic voice*

It literally blows my mind that people have the audacity to say some of the things they do. In celebration of International Women's Day (a couple days late), I'd like to congratulate you Katie Lou on quite an accomplishment. Girls, never let boys take away what you've done because they're immature, keep doing you!

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
