To The People That Don't Take Care Of Their Animals
Anna Rocca

As I am sitting in my bed writing this I hear the dog next door barking for what feels like 13 hours, and what has been 13 hours. So this dog barking sparked a peculiar thought process.

The thought of how some people do not take care of their animals. Yes, I understand you work, yes I understand you have to pay the bills, but leaving for work at 7a and not coming back until 9p every single weekday is grounds for saying you do not take care of your animal. Your dog or cat may be fed, but they don't just want food, they want love too.

You being gone for 13 hours, and sleeping for 6-8 hours that leaves a small amount of time to spend loving your animal. I don't care how big of a dog you may have, and how long you think his or her bladder may be able to hold, the only thing that matters is you are not spending the quality time your animal actually needs and deserves to have from you. Y

ou are not there to take care of it, and I, the bitter neighbor have to listen to the repercussions from this decision. Yes, I am sure, some of you reading this are guilty of letting your animal be home alone sometimes for a full day, and that is excusable, I can understand that. But, what is not fine is doing this 5 out of 7 days of the week. Animals are a responsibility, and I am sure we all heard this from our parents as we were kids begging for a puppy or kitten, but this is serious. If you can't take care of an animal do not think you are doing it a favor by taking it from a shelter if you aren't going to take care of it yourself.

This goes for any animal; dog, cat, rabbit, snake, iguana, bird, etc... Animals need TLC and TLC is not what he or she is getting when you are out all day and night, and never there to take care of it. Every animal deserves to live, and that life they deserve should be the best. Laws to protect our animals are changing every day for their benefit. Some of them are making animals comparable to children, so would you leave your child at home alone for 13 hours a day crying all alone? No, I did not think you would. So please do us all a favor, and take care of your damn furry friends, and remember this quote.

"They may only be here for a part of our lives, but to them, we are their whole life." - unknown

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
