From risky topics to everyday phrases, people are becoming afraid to talk, speak their mind, and express their individuality. This needs to stop. Here are a few things that people have stopped saying or discussing.
1. Political parties
It is very rare to hear people say "I am a Republican" or "I am a Democrat," especially with the current opposition in politics. In general, people look at "politics" as if it's a dirty word. Being affiliated with a political party is supposed to represent your ideas and opinions.
2. Faith
I know... Another controversial topic. It is sad that in college, you can walk past a Free Speech Zone and hear people fighting or shaming those who speak about religion. It is everyone's right to believe in something, love their faith, and practice it freely. People should be able to express their beliefs–not feel as if they must speak about them in secret.
3. Asking for help
There is a stigma that asking for help is cowardly. That is absolutely false. There is nothing that displays more strength than asking for help. There are so many resources out there. Don't ever let someone make you feel unable to ask for help.
