People and Numbers

On my love of metaphysics

I truly do enjoy numbers, mostly due to a little thing called metaphysics. Basically, a bunch of dreamers decided that we can describe some of our more human aspects with math and science. After all they're just a study of for the world works and we are part of the world, hence we can be understood through these means.

I'm not gonna pretend that I'm very good at understanding people. Yet in order to move forward in life I have to try. So in a great gamble, I've put all of my fate in metaphysics. Hoping that amassing knowledge on one side will allow me to further the other. And to date it's held to an extent. I mainly chalk up the lapses in this technique to my own lack of understanding.

Quite frankly, the world of numbers and science is quite lonely. Yet I take solace because I'll never be alone because inside each single number, is an infinite amount of unique decimals. An infinite one. And I think people are like that. We all may just be a lonely 1, but inside us we hold infinite other numbers which hold other infinites. And each of these numbers are an answer to some question, it may or may not have been asked before, but it's there. We can call upon them at the ready. To me those, when I see the the lessons and beliefs of all those who ever taught you, who ever built you up, who believed in you; I see a number. And the sum of all these numbers are ourselves and it's a thing of beauty.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
