The 13th of November will always be a day the world holds close in our hearts. Leaving 129 civilians dead and many other injured, suicide bombers and terrorists attacked on France Friday the 13th, showing no mercy. In six different locations across the capital of Paris, people were shocked and terrified by the occurrence. Shootings and bombings took place one after the other. The first attack went off at a soccer stadium, outside of the gates. Other places were restaurants, a bar, near a concert hall, and inside the concert hall shortly after. Scenes of thousands of fans fleeing show the chaotic mess that was created, and the fear in people's hearts.
It was said to be ISIS extremists who have made these attacks, and to confirm, ISIS took responsibility for these attacks. At the concert location, the terrorist open firing into the crowd yelled, "Allah Akbar." These attacks left people dead, injured and scared as they escaped areas for the sake of their lives that Friday night.
Sunday night, France retaliated. Dropping bombs on Raqqa, the said central site of the Islamic State believed to be responsible for the attacks, France showed they were a force to be reckoned with. Previously, France had not shown how powerful they are, and how they are able to bomb outside their territory. Along with American forces, France sent air jets over the city, destroying two different places, one of which was said to be the terrorist training location, and the other which was said to be the headquarters of the Islamic State's forces. Some people believe France should've done more than what they did.
What can we do to help? When 9/11 occurred, France stood with us in support of the lives we lost and the attack that put our country in major fear. Now, we are standing by France. We are showing our support through social media especially, by adding the effect of the French flag over our profile pictures on Facebook. But we can do more than just adding certain colors to our pictures. We can donate. There are many different places to donate to help France overcome these attacks in their community. We can pray. While everyone has their own view on their religious status, we can keep Paris and the lives lost and the families in our thoughts and daily actions. We can donate blood. While the website is in French, use Google Translate to understand the words, or call someone to see how you can help. We can all show our support and strength to France as a country, but we can also each individually do our own part to help. What have you done?
